To Raj Singh Dungarpur, Tendulkar’s 1989 Indian tour of Pakistan is attributed to his selection after just a single season of First Class Cricket with the national team.
Prior to the Indian tour of the West Indies, Tendulkar had expressed interest in being selected, but the Indian selection committee was concerned about his being exposed to the West Indies’ dominating fast bowlers so early in his career, and hence passed him over.

Sachin Tendulkar made his Indian Test debut at the age of sixteen years & two hundred and five days and his One-Day International debut to the age of sixteen years and two hundred thirty eight days, both records him still holds today for the country.
