Australia’s terrain resembles Antarctica. Aside from Antarctica, Australia is the world’s driest continent. About a third of the continent is practically desert since it receives so little rain. In all, 70% of the mainland receives less than 500 millimetres of rain per year, putting it in the arid or semi-arid category.
